Overview

Tantus Technologies, Inc. (Tantus) - recognized by the Washington Post as a Top Workplace - is seeking a Project Manager to support a client in Woodlawn, MD.  You will be responsible for supporting the backlog refinement process, organizing and facilitating project/program activities, and coordinating information gathering and sharing between product management, the development teams, the human-centered design team, and external stakeholders. You will apply business and technical expertise to identify program pain points and provide recommendations for backlog prioritizing, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

What You'll Do

  • Provide support for the Agile Release Train (ART):
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and prioritize features that align with the overall product vision and strategic objectives.
  • Participate in PI (Program Increment) Planning sessions, ensuring alignment of the product backlog with the ART objectives and milestones.
  • Act as a key liaison between the development team and stakeholders to foster clear communication and mutual understanding of expectations.
  • Manage Kanban Board for Efficient Workflow: 
  • Manage the product features through the Kanban board to ensure smooth progression of work items through the workflow. 
  • Regularly update and maintain the Kanban board, reflecting the current state of features, impediments, and dependencies. 
  • Monitor and optimize the flow of work, identifying and addressing bottlenecks to enhance overall efficiency.
  • Documentation Coordination: 
  • Coordinate and facilitate the documentation of epics and features, working closely with program leads, business analysts, and other relevant stakeholders. 
  • Ensure that documentation is clear, comprehensive, and aligns with the SAFe framework's standards and guidelines. 
  • Efficient Flow of Features and Epics: 
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that features and epics move through the program Kanban board efficiently. 
  • Proactively address impediments and dependencies that may hinder the flow of work, finding solutions to keep the process on track.
  • Strategic Alignment: 
  • Maintain a clear understanding of the overall business strategy, product vision, and roadmap to guide decision-making and prioritization. 
  • Align the product backlog with strategic objectives, ensuring that the delivered features contribute to the overall success of the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: 
  • Actively participate in retrospectives and other feedback mechanisms to identify opportunities for process improvement. 
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the product development process.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: 
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including program leads, development teams, and business units, to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program or project management, including managing multiple projects. 
  • PMP or Agile Certifications such as PO/PM, Scrum Master, SAFe Agilist, etc. 
  • Ability to combine project management principles with Agile development requirements. 
  • Experience using project management toolsets such as JIRA and Confluence, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), and Lucid.  

Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability managing complex, multi-task projects and multiple projects concurrently. 
  • Ability to manage project risks and issues. 
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. 

Nice to Haves

  • Understanding of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). 
  • Experience working on Federal projects.
