Overview

Tantus Technologies, Inc. (Tantus) - recognized by the Washington Post as a Top Workplace - is seeking a IT Asset Management Specialist to support scientists and administrative staff in an active environmental health research institution.  In this role, you will support hardware related service requests and maintain hardware inventory in a warehouse setting.  You will recommend hardware for purchase and track asset inventory through the hardware lifecycle from initial purchase to decommissioning & disposal.  You will support hardware/software roll-outs and refresh efforts, printers, instrument-attached devices, mobile devices, VOIP phones, and conference room equipment.  You will follow relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work within agreed service levels.  Successful applicants can demonstrate their capacity to establish productive working relationships and effective communication with customers and teammates and to contribute ideas in support of quality and continual improvement goals.

 

Location: On-site role in in Durham, NC.
Clearance: This position supports a federal contract and requires the ability to pass a background check.

What You'll Do

  • Managing/tracking equipment through the hardware lifecycle from purchase to decommissioning.
  • Fulfilling equipment requests. (New Hire, Lifecycle, Break/Fix, etc.)
  • Maintaining hardware inventory and reporting on inventory levels.
  • Working closely with the customer on asset controls and recommending computer models and other hardware for purchase.
  • Maintaining a ready-use supply of equipment for rapid request fulfillment.
  • Work with Warehouse staff and Property Team on new equipment deliveries, inventory, and surplus.
  • Point of delivery for all Mobile Devices (Cell Phones, iPads, MiFis)

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • 1-2 years of Windows PC technical support experience required.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft O365 suite of tools including Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Experience deploying IT hardware

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment supporting 1600+ end-users.
  • Asset Management, Lifecycle, and Inventory Control knowledge desired.
  • Knowledge of image-based OS Deployment.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience providing support to a large (>1600) community of Windows PC users.
  • Experience in Asset Management, Inventory Controls, and Hardware Lifecycle.
  • Previous experience working in a scientific research environment.
  • Experience supporting both Windows and Mac platforms is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications including MCTS, MCSA Windows 10, MCSA Windows 7, A+ or Network +, ITIL Foundations are a plus.
  • College-level course work in computer science-related area is a plus.

Salary Range

  • Salary range is $45,000-55,000/year. The salary range for this position reflects a variety of factors that influence compensation decisions, including skills, experience, training, certifications, and organizational needs.
