Overview

Tantus Technologies, Inc. (Tantus) - recognized by the Washington Post as a Top Workplace - is seeking an Agile Manager. You will lead and oversee support in the areas of planning, organizing, managing, coordinating, and tracking of multiple application development projects from planning to completion. This includes schedule management, report management, cost/schedule/performance monitoring, and risk and issue management. You will work closely with our federal counterpart to understand and fully support the program needs by bringing value through systems and projects. You  must coordinate across an Integrated Project Team (IPT) consisting of application developers, requirements teams, helpdesk, infrastructure support, and other specialized stakeholders. 

 

Location: Preference for candidates in Rockville, MD.

What You'll Do

  • Project Initiation and Planning: Define project scope, goals, and objectives. Identify stakeholders and establish communication channels.  Create a high-level project schedule and backlog. Use and improve upon the current IT Intake process and PMO Playbook.  Use Azure DevOps (or related tool) to track information daily.
  • Agile Methodology: Work with the various IT Sections to assist with the Agile transformation including working agreements, training, etc.
  • Backlog Management: Prioritize and groom backlog. Work with teams to breakdown user stories into actionable tasks. Work with teams to estimate items using story points.
  • Sprint Planning: Work with teams to plan sprint goals and select backlog items for the upcoming sprint. Define acceptance criteria for user stories. Estimate the capacity of the development teams for the sprint. Assess LOE estimates from software developers.
  • Daily standups: Conduct daily standup meetings to review progress and identify blockers and ensure items are documented in Azure DevOps daily. Escalate issues project issues.
  • Sprint execution: Collaborate with stakeholders and development team to ensure there are no blockers.
  • Sprint review and retrospective: Demo completed user stories to stakeholders and hold retrospective meetings to reflect on the sprint and identify improvements.
  • Change Management: Document all changes within existing systems which includes releases. Document and communicate to stakeholders.
  • Project Reporting and Metrics: Implement and maintain portfolio reporting tools, such as OnePlan. Develop and maintain portfolio-level and project-level reporting with tools like OnePlan and Azure DevOps.
  • Risk Management: Utilize and improve on existing Risk Management escalation process within Azure DevOps. Monitor and address risks throughout the project life cycle. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Continually seek out ways to improve the process, collaborate, and strive to improve the process and own skillset.
  • Project Closure: Follow and improve on existing Project Closure process within 1 week of project deployment. Review goals and objectives to ensure they have been met.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
  • Agile certification (e.g., PMI-ACP, ScrumMaster (CSM))
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical role
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical project management including experience in an Agile environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong Analytical Skills

Salary Range

  • Salary range is $100,000-150,000/year. The salary range for this position reflects a variety of factors that influence compensation decisions, including skills, experience, training, certifications, and organizational needs.
